Therapeutic Treatment
Home Services
Residential Youth Care’s Therapeutic Treatment Home Services (TTHS) serve as a transitional step from residential treatment, offering clients a more individualized and normalized living environment to continue their progress. Licensed and trained TTHS care providers offer ongoing support in a home-like setting, helping clients work toward their treatment goals while facilitating increased engagement with the community.
In TTHS, clients have the opportunity to apply and refine the skills they’ve learned in a less restrictive environment. The level of privileges, including participation in community activities, cell phone use, time with friends, unsupervised outings, and employment, varies based on individual progress. Throughout their time in TTHS, clients continue to receive clinical, behavioral health, psychiatric, and case management services from RYC to ensure continued growth and support.
About the Program
Therapeutic Treatment Home Service (TTHS) Care Providers play a vital role in supporting at-risk youth by providing in-home therapeutic care, ensuring their basic needs are met, and advocating for them. These providers work in close collaboration with RYC mental health clinicians and the client’s treatment team to implement behavior management strategies and treatment plans. The goal is to support youth and their families in working toward reunification while the client continues making progress on their treatment goals and refining social skills in a safe, structured setting.
Becoming a Therapeutic Treatment Parent can significantly impact the lives of the children in your care. This role is ideal for families with experience in managing youth with behavioral challenges or those who are committed, resilient, and eager to learn.
To be eligible, treatment parents must have a valid Alaska Driver’s License and a clean driving record, pass a background check and drug screening, and complete all required training and certification. Additionally, they must meet state licensing requirements, including passing a home assessment to ensure they can meet the special needs of the youth in the program. For more information about licensing and requirements, please visit the Alaska Center for Resource Families (ACRF) website. Treatment parents collaborate with RYC staff to provide a nurturing, individualized environment for each youth.
Support for treatment parents includes respite care, 24/7 on-call clinical assistance, and de-escalation support. In situations where a treatment parent needs time off, RYC staff or another licensed TTHS provider will step in to provide temporary care, ensuring continuity of support.
