About the Role
Therapeutic Treatment Home Service Care Providers are responsible for providing in-home therapeutic services to youth at risk, including providing for a client's basic needs and advocating on their behalf. Parents are also responsible for implementing in-home behavior management and treatment plans under the supervision and direction of an RYC mental health clinician and the client's treatment team. The goal of this service is to help youth and families continue working toward reunification while clients progress their treatment goals and practice social skills in a supportive and structured setting.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Provide a Safe and Stable Environment
Create a structured, nurturing, and emotionally supportive environment.
Ensure physical safety, including proper supervision and secure living conditions.
Foster trust and stability, offering a consistent and predictable routine.
Use de-escalation techniques and ensure that appropriate emergency measures are followed when needed.
Engage in Therapeutic Support
Actively participate in the child’s treatment plan, which may include attending meetings with professionals (e.g., clinicians, case managers) to monitor progress and provide updates on the child’s well-being.
Work closely with treatment teams, doctors, and other professionals to support the child’s healing process. Communicate openly with the team regarding the child’s progress, setbacks, or any concerns.
Follow through with individualized treatment goals and interventions recommended by the treatment team. Implement and reinforce coping strategies and behavior management techniques as recommended by their clinician.
Behavioral Management and Intervention
Use trauma-informed approaches to manage challenging behaviors.
Develop and enforce appropriate boundaries while providing positive reinforcement.
Be patient, flexible, and understanding when managing behaviors related to past trauma or emotional distress.
Requirements
Eligible treatment parents must have a valid Alaska Drivers License and clean driving record, must pass a background check and drug screening, and must complete all training and certification requirements. Treatment parents must also meet all applicable state licensing standards, including a completed home assessment indicating the family's ability to meet the special needs of clients in the program.
Benefits
Residential Youth Care offers a generous daily reimbursement stipend for each youth placed in a treatment parent's home, with a rate of $90 - $115 per day for each placement commensurate with the provider's qualifications.Â
Respite care is available to treatment families, as well as 24/7 on-call clinical and de-escalation support. In the event that a treatment parent needs coverage for extended medical leave or vacation time, an RYC staff member or another licensed TTHS provider will step in as the alternate caregiver. Short-term coverage may be provided by babysitting services, pursuant to state regulations.
