Skilled Maintenance Technician

About the Role

The Skilled Maintenance Technician supports the safety, functionality, and appearance of RYC facilities, grounds, and equipment. This position is responsible for performing a broad range of skilled maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance duties across RYC locations. Reporting to the Facilities Maintenance Director, this role helps ensure that facilities, vehicles, and related systems are maintained in a safe, clean, and reliable condition to support daily operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and skilled maintenance duties including carpentry, painting, plumbing, minor electrical work, auto repair, and general facility repairs.

  • Conduct preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections for buildings, grounds, equipment, and vehicles.

  • Diagnose maintenance issues and complete repairs in a timely and effective manner.

  • Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, and cleaning equipment safely and appropriately.

  • Assist with scheduling and completing recurring maintenance activities on a monthly, quarterly, seasonal, and annual basis.

  • Support larger repair, renovation, or improvement projects under the direction of the Facilities Maintenance Director.

  • Maintain safe working conditions by identifying hazards, following established safety procedures, and using appropriate protective equipment.

  • Respond to routine maintenance requests and help prioritize work based on operational need.

  • Maintain positive working relationships with staff, vendors, and contractors, providing responsive and professional customer service.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 21 years of age+

  • Valid Alaska Driver’s License and clean driving record

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 75 lbs. or heavier with assistance and/ or use of proper equipment.•Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments with inclement weather conditions.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in one or more skilled trades such as building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing, painting, mechanical repair, or automotive maintenance.

  • Working knowledge of maintenance methods, tools, equipment, and safety practices.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and complete assignments with limited supervision.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Benefits

Job Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt

Hours Per Week: 40

$22.50-28.00/hr DOE
