About the Role
Under the direction of the KAP Director, the KAP Summer Program Facilitator supervises a daily afterschool program for youth engagement and enrichment. The KAP Summer Program Facilitator serves as a first point of contact for program leadership and needs. The KAP Summer Program Facilitator works directly with youth to provide a safe, responsible, well-supervised program while acting as a positive adult role model, coach, and mentor. The KAP Summer Program Facilitator must have a genuine interest in the growth, development, and provision of a safe, nurturing, and fun environment for the youth. A KAP Summer Program Facilitator has the ability to establish authority through leadership, communication, and most importantly patience, providing youth with the stability and nurturing atmosphere they need to succeed. KAP Summer Program Facilitators are responsible for planning and facilitating activities, workshops, clinics, events and family focused parent/family opportunities that meet RYC’s Afterschool Program requirements.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Lead groups of youth in an instructional setting, maintaining high standards for behavior and safety
Develop and implement age-appropriate activities.
Serve as a positive adult role model for children in the program through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy.
Create an engaging environment that fosters a sense of belonging for youth.
Organize special events, family nights, or outreach efforts to youth, families, parents or other stakeholders.
Assist with managing and implementing the programming, monitoring and supervision of youth, including directly leading youth activities.
 Maintain highest degree of confidentiality in staff and member matters.
Coordinate and facilitate program implementation and cooperation with program sites and partner organizations.
Establish, maintain, coordinate, facilitate and organize youth, parents, families and related events or classes
Additional duties related to the afterschool summer program as assigned
This position requires a person who can work with many distractions, interruptions and still accomplish their objectives and meet established deadlines. Resource and equipment management are integral components to make the position successful.
The KAP Summer Program Facilitator is expected to wear appropriate, professional work attire at all times.
Ability to frequently stand, walk, stoop, sit, crouch, bend, speak, and hear.
Ability to engage in physical activity with members without limitation.
Ability to lift, carry, pull, or otherwise move objects between 10 and 20 pounds.
Knowledge of developmental needs of school age children, particularly 5th- 8th grade.
Ability to manage and supervise large groups.
You will lead youth in summer activities that may include hiking, camping, outdoor games, art projects, music, group games, snorkeling, fishing, etc.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required.
21 yo +
2 years experience or degree in related field or mixture of both
Valid Alaska Driver’s License and clean driving record
Basic knowledge of office equipment and computers, including word processing, excel and emai
Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR and certification following hire
Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screening

Hours Per Week: 40
Shift: M-F 8:30am-5:30pm
Hourly Pay: $18.00-$20.00/hr DOE
