About the Role
RYC has been providing residential behavioral health services to Alaska's youth for more than 25 years. RYC operates based on a philosophy emphasizing a culture of care and the building of therapeutic relationships through the development of positive, supportive, and planned interventions delivered by knowledgeable, empathetic, and skilled staff. The Education Manager is responsible for overseeing and advancing the educational development of RYC clients. This includes both academic progress and progress toward treatment goals.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
1. Program Oversight and Development
Design, implement, and maintain a structured daily program schedule in collaboration with the site team that supports educational and treatment goals in alignment with RYC and KGBSD requirements.
Collaborate with local and home school districts to coordinate education credit recovery, IEP services, and comprehensive academic planning.
Utilize the Teaching Family Model to teach and reinforce social and life skills development for RYC clients.
Make programmatic adjustments based on organizational requirements, partner input, or youth needs.
2. Staff Supervision and Training
Oversee staff scheduling and delegate duties to ensure consistent and high-quality care for all clients.
Supervise and support direct care education staff, ensuring adherence to best practices and organizational standards.
Observe and evaluate staff and client interactions, providing guidance and implementing appropriate behavioral interventions or positive redirection when necessary.
3. Communication and Relationship Management
Maintain ongoing, professional communication with RYC administration, staff, parents, school administrators, and external partners.
Develop rapport with faculty, staff, youth, and families to foster a collaborative and supportive environment.
Clearly communicate organizational policies, procedures, and practices to internal and external stakeholders.
4. Environment and Safety
Ensure the cleanliness and upkeep of program facilities and equipment, including daily setup and breakdown responsibilities.
Promptly report and document all injuries and incidents using RYC and KGBSD protocols, ensuring appropriate notification to families and administration.
Monitor staff and youth behavior to promote safety, respect, and accountability throughout the program day.
5. Documentation and Compliance
Manage program documentation, including Rehabilitation Notes, attendance, and progress reports.
Follow established RYC and KGBSD procedures for problem-solving and incident management.
Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements related to educational service delivery, Medicaid documentation, and agency policy.
Requirements
Bachelors Degree (preferred)
Associates Degree required.
Ability to speak and write Standard English appropriate in a public school setting
Must possess strong computer skills, have the ability to track data and produce reports.
Possess excellent communication, supervisory, administrative, and fiscal management skills.
At least six months experience working with youth in a classroom, after school, or recreation environment.
Strong Math and English skills Â
21 years of age or older.
Valid Alaska Drivers License
Ability to pass a pre employment UA and background check
Must be able to obtain First Aid/CPR and MANDT certification, facilitated by RYC, following hire
