Payroll Specialist
Residential Youth Care’s Payroll Specialist independently performs assigned accounting functions to ensure accurate payroll distribution, recording, and reconciliation.
Major Areas of Responsibility:
Duties and responsibilities include processing payroll, maintaining time keeping records, reviewing payroll and payroll reports for accuracy, and maintaining accurate set up and tax filings federally and for the State of Alaska.

Job Type: Full Time, Non-Exempt
Hours Per Week: 40
Hourly Pay: $24.00-$28.00/HR DOE

Primary Objectives:
- Responsibilities include payroll and all related activities.
- Check timesheets for accuracy
- Enter data into databases and spreadsheets
- Handle direct deposit requests and data
- Process paper checks for distribution
- Acquire all necessary signatures and releases to distribute payroll
- Reconcile quarter-end and year-end reports.
- Verify and reconcile W2s prior to issuance.
- Process wage garnishments
- Make adjustments in pay for raises, bonuses and commission
- Ensure correct withholdings and payments for benefits
- Monitor tax withholdings and payments
- Assist contract accountants and management with completion of financial auditing, taxes, and special studies of specific areas.

Job Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 21 years of age or older
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
- 2 years of college education in the area of Accounting, Finance or Business Administration and/or a minimum of two years related work experience (Preferred)
- Strong computer skills and experience working with various programs such as Excel, Word, Adobe, and QuickBooks or other commercial accounting software
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
- The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining accuracy
- A solid understanding of or ability to learn financial processes and controls
